In a historic moment spanning six decades of her career, Mitchell is set to make her debut at the Grammy Awards this weekend.

The Recording Academy has officially announced that the legendary Canadian folk musician will grace the Grammys stage for the first time during the awards ceremony on Sunday, February 4.

The announcement came from the Recording Academy on X, and Mitchell herself also confirmed the news on her account.

Joni, a nine-time Grammy recipient, secured her initial award in 1969 with the Best Folk Performance for 'Clouds.' Her latest Grammy triumph occurred in 2022 when 'Joni Mitchell Archives - Vol. 1: The Early Years (1963–1967)' was honored as the Best Historical Album.

Recognizing her significant contributions, Mitchell was granted the Recording Academy's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002. In the current year, she has earned a nomination in the Best Folk Album category for the 2023 live album, 'Joni Mitchell at Newport.'

'Joni Mitchell at Newport' is a recording of the musician's surprise performance at the famous music festival in 2022. It was a big deal because the last time she was at Newport was way back in 1969.

In this special 13-song set called "JONI JAM," Brandi Carlile joined her on songs like 'Carey,' 'A Case Of You,' and 'Big Yellow Taxi.'

After the Newport performance, Joni had her first big headline show in more than 20 years in June 2023, at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington state. This time too, she played with Brandi and other musicians like Marcus Mumford

The show featured a total of 24 songs, including some from her long career and a few cover songs.
